93 Made Games - Champions of Oztag

24/6/2012

The 93 Made Games Oztag Team fought back from a 4-2 deficit deep in the second half to pull off the underdog win of the century against the Eastern Force to win the team's first ever Oztag championship. This is how they did it...

93 Made Games ended the regular season in second place only having lost 2 of its 12 games. This meant that 93 Made Games found themselves pairing off against the Botany Rams in the semi-finals. 93 Made Games won that game by 9 tries to 8 putting the team through to the decider against the then undefeated Eastern Force.
The Eastern Force took the early lead in the grand final and the teams went to the break with only 1 try separating them, with Julius Haraszta and Jess Moffett contributing to 93 Made Games tally. Solid defence from both teams kept the score locked at 3-2 with only 10 minutes left on the clock when the Eastern Force's right centre made a timely intercept and ran unopposed to touchdown, pushing their lead out to 4-2.

Knowing that they had nothing to lose if they let the misfortune of an intercept get to them, 93 Made Games kept their heads up and refocussed on the prize. Over the next 10 minutes the team played brilliant football by restraining all of their opponent's efforts to get out of their half. This allowed the team to use the ball in prime field position and score 2 well-constructed tries - one superb back-line play by Paul Burgess and Rhiannon Moffett which left the Eastern Force dazed and a great solo effort by Jess Moffett right on the try line - to tie the scores at 4-a-piece.

With full-time and possibly golden point extra time looming, 93 Made Games had one more set to clinch the game. The team moved up and spread the ball to captain Jeremy Moffett. With a one-two-swivel, Jeremy burst through the line, leaving the Eastern Force chasers in his wake. As he crossed the line, he planted the ball so hard into the turf that it almost made it all of the way to China. Only thirty seconds were left on the clock when 93 Made Games found themselves ahead for the first time in the match. The clock counted down with the Eastern Force receiving possession from the subsequent kick-off but they were unable to affect the scoreline with 93 Made Games' defence remaining intact.

5, 4, 3, 2, 1... game over! 93 Made Games won by 5 tries to 4. The players embraced each other and celebrated one of the closest games in Oztag history. What made the win even sweeter was that their opponent was the only team in all divisions not to have lost a match... that is, before the grand final.

93 Made Games Oztag Team Kicks Off Its Season

10/12/2009

93 Made Games sponsored Oztag team started its 09/10 Summer competition at Heffron Park on 9 November 2009. The team boasts youth and experience and is looking forward to a competitive season this Summer.

93 Made Games Managing Director, Sean Carroll, who is a keen Oztag player and team member, says that a game of Oztag is a cross between Rugby League and Touch Football. As is Rugby League, you are allowed to run with and kick the ball and as in Touch Football, the game is mostly non-contact, apart from having to stop the player with the ball by pulling off one of the two tags that are attached to their waist.

The 93 Made Games Oztag team plays in Sydney's South East Oztag competition. If you are interested in playing in the team or checking out a game then let us know or come on down to Heffron Park one night this Summer.

In a first for Australia's Premier Collectables Show, 93 Made Games exhibited its Australian-designed card games Viewpoint and Show'n'Go.

Australia's Premier Collectables Show is a fantastic opportunity for people to view and purchase a range of collectables from different eras.  At each show, attendees can find a wide range of vintage, retro and modern collectables, such as trading cards, sports memorabilia, action figures, die-cast vehicles, toys, sci-fi figurines, gadgets and now... Australian-designed card games.

93 Made Games spoke with the show's organiser, Sonny Sen, about collaborating with games stores around the country to host games conventions and tournaments together with the collectables shows.  This type of venture will benefit attendees, who will receive a richer and more varied experience, and exhibitors, who will have more people browsing through their merchandise.

Sonny also plans to continue hosting special guests at the collectables shows.  The show's first ever special guest was Australian Rugby League icon Laurie Daley, whom 93 Made Games spoke with back in October 2008.  Other special guests have included AFL identities - Anthony Rock and James Manson - and Rugby League legends - Wayne Pearce, Ben Elias and Paul Sironen.
Australia's Premier Collectables Show is held throughout Victoria and New South Wales.  To find out when the next show is on at a venue near you go to http://www.cshow.com.au/.

93 Made Games meets Laurie Daley

8/4/2009

93 Made Games met with Australian rugby league legend Laurie Daley on 26 October 2008 to discuss his career, the game of Rugby League and marketing to rugby league fans.

Laurie is very proud of his career and what the game of rugby league has done for his life. He hopes that his State of Origin side, the NSW Blues, can regain the dominance it held over the Queensland Maroons in the 1990s.

On expanding the NRL competition into regions like Papua New Guinea, he thought that it was not currently feasible for the NRL to include a team from PNG as suitable infrastructure does not currently exist. However, he remained open to the idea of such a venture in the future.

Laurie reminisced a little with 93 Made Games regarding rugby league's heyday in the '80s and '90s. He agreed that the game has lost a bit over the past 10 years and knows that it will always be a favourite pastime for many Australians.

Laurie was also kind enough provide a couple of autographs including signing a prototype of the
Show'n'Go Rugby League card game dial.

93 Made Games wishes Laurie all the best for the future and looks forward to meeting with him again.
